Performance

My interest in performance work began with a simple fascination of the origins of creative processes.

As a classically-trained violinist, the main emphasis in my studies was directed towards the analysis and interpretation of a finished work. However, in the last year of my studies at Boston University‘s School of Fine Arts, I had the opportunity to work intensively with a composition student and it was this experience that opened my eyes and ears to examine the evolvement of a musical piece more closely than ever before. With this and other valuable ear-opening musical experiences, I left for Berlin, Germany to meet my jazz teacher, the deceased Jay Oliver and to collaborate with visual artists, dancers and actors. It was in Berlin where my performance work began.

I am especially grateful for the longstanding collaboration and friendship with the Berlin painter Baerbel Rothhaar who always wanted us to do more than just improvise.

The following pages are noteworthy examples of our work.
